First Poem in Years

Hi everyone,
Figured I'd write another poem - this one took three tries but I think I got it to a point where I could post it. This is my first poem here in at least 2 years, I think...

This poem was brought to you by my new typewriter! Stay tuned for the full post about it!

IMEA Audition Nervousness...

Today were IMEA (Illinois Music Educators' Association) District VII auditions. I play clarinet, and was anxiously waiting for my turn to audition. While in the warm-up room, I wrote a little poem on the whiteboard.

Here we sit
In nerve-wracking anticipation
Hoping, at its end, for
Glory and congratulation
But...that is far too far
Into the future to see
Currently, I merely seek
Just ONE GOOD REED!

Poem from the Beach.

Yesterday, my family and I went to the beach, and I brought my red brother deluxe 220 along, and typed a little. Here's a poem from the beach!

"One's own"

Once you start cooking
a meal, a dish
You can't stop until you're done
And why would you? It's so much fun
Watching the bubbles rise
as the temperatures do likewise
Seeing the original surface's
beautiful demise.

3 Haikus.

The journey back home
comes in a timely manner
when we are finished.

Consider one as
the one he pretends to be
and you'll be deceived.

(the next one was the last poem on the page)
One more for this page
to consider itself full.
Well, here's that last poem.

"Staring down."

Walking along the street
entertained by the bright sights and sounds
of which city again?
Can't quite remember.

Cars and trucks whiz by. I'm blissfully unaware
of the hole in the ground
fifty feet away; but then I fall.
Phone still in hand,  but no longer bound

to my eyes.
What a surprise-
to the addicted texter
to be caught in a manhole-
the careless pedestrian's demise.

"No more chances."

Next time I see him-
fat chance he'll breathe again.
One too many times
he's crossed the line
with that goddamned grin
plastered on his face.
Whenever a comment I made,
a snide remark, an insult perhaps
always from his skull-cave came.

Enough is enough! I've had it up to here.
My true motive now in the clear,
his best bet is to move-stay away.
For the time we meet again--
that'll be his last day.
